My heart broke in prayer and study today at the treatment of God and his Word in our world when so many desire something real and desire to seek him.
- Forefathers of faith and promise diligently sought God and walked in types and shadows as promises to a future new testament church. Prophets of old suffered and died to say a word from God they refused to hide, many looking forward to a mighty Messiah. They are now crushed under the boots labeled “progress” and marked “out of date.”
- Jesus shed tears and blood and endured hate, spite, and vicious beatings to give life to what is now being thrown back into the tomb in favor of easy believe-ism, prosperity doctrine, progressive Christianity, and more. Humanism pushes to reign supreme.
- The Apostles risked life and limb to write under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost what they saw and heard in a society that hated their beliefs. Willing to give all to write Holy commandments from God to the church, which are being reworded, redefined, butchered, or ignored for the sake of an easy fit with modern society.
All-in-all so many forces are attempting to cause people to, as Paul wrote, “having a form of Godliness, but denying the power thereof” (2 Timothy 3:5)
When it comes to the Revival that so many seekers desperately want, the above is just a portion of what a seeker will wrestle with on the path to God, but that should not dissuade the seeker – there are answers to be found.
- Search to test long & tightly held ideas/beliefs against scripture. (Matthew 15:6-9)
- Search receive the very real power from above that Jesus promised and was poured out freely and liberally in the new testament and today. (Luke 24:49 & Acts 1:8)
- Search to return to being able to have faith and trust in the Word of God as it is, not as society desires it to be and twists it to be so. (Colossians 2:8, Matthew 7:15, Acts 20:29-32)
Dear seeker, there is a lot to be found, don’t stop seeking! Pray, read the scriptures, fast, and seek. Don’t settle for less than an amazing, rich, and an intimately personal experience with God, just as the Bible describes it.
